Advanced Parole

Advance Parole is a special travel authorization that may allow certain DACA recipients to temporarily travel outside the United States and lawfully return. Although DACA does not automatically provide international travel permission, eligible individuals may apply for Advance Parole through USCIS for specific humanitarian, educational, or employment-related purposes.

Common reasons for Advance Parole include visiting a sick relative, attending a funeral, participating in study abroad programs, academic research, professional training, work assignments, or other qualifying circumstances. Each application must be carefully documented and supported with evidence demonstrating the purpose of travel.

For many DACA recipients, Advance Parole can provide additional immigration benefits beyond temporary travel authorization. In some cases, a lawful return to the United States using Advance Parole may help create eligibility for adjustment of status through a qualifying family member, avoiding the need to process an immigrant visa abroad.
